Hands-on chemistry - manipulating molecules using virtual reality and molecular modeling Suggestion Suggestion Marc Baaden   |   added on Dec 08, 2009 Use easily accessible virtual reality applications to make the audience "feel" how molecules behave in complex biological systems asuch as enzymes, membranes and viruses.
Topic: hands-on activities Audience: general public, students

Chemistry Information and Challenges in 21st Collaboration Collaboration Mihai Putz   |   added on Dec 08, 2009 Since I am Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Chemical Modeling at NOVA Science Publishers, New York, USA, I intend to edit an international-interdisciplinary research book celebrating the Chemistry achievements at the down of 21st on IYC2011!
Topic: references Audience: tertiary education

Chemistry for Sustainable Development Collaboration Collaboration M. Akhyar Farrukh   |   added on Dec 07, 2009 Sustainable development is seeking to meet the needs of the present without compromising those of future generations. Sustainable development in Chemistry will help the world, regions, nationals, countries, societies be economically prosperous, socially sensitive and environmentally responsible.
Topic: workshops, hands-on activities, conferences, courses Audience: general public, educators, professional chemists

Structural data base Chemistry Suggestion Suggestion Mathew Joseph   |   added on Dec 05, 2009 The potential energy surface is the central concept in computational chemistry. Born-Oppenheimer approximation suggests that in a molecule the nuclei are essentially stationary compared to the electrons. This concept makes the concept of molecular geometry meaningful. But this fundamental principle has its limitations.
