Structural data base Chemistry Suggestion Mathew Joseph | added on Dec 05, 2009 The potential energy surface is the central concept in computational chemistry. Born-Oppenheimer approximation suggests that in a molecule the nuclei are essentially stationary compared to the electrons. This concept makes the concept of molecular geometry meaningful. But this fundamental principle has its limitations.
