Origins 2011

The aim of the conference is to discuss and integrate recent discoveries in a variety of scientific fields including, for instance, the discovery of exoplanets, the early evolution of life or the molecular origins of life.

Which astronomical, geological, and environmental contexts may have led to the emergence of life? Which tools and strategies can we use to detect its presence elsewhere in the Universe? Scientists will be gathered in Montpellier on July 3–8, 2011 to answer these questions under the hospices of ISSOL – the International Astrobiology Society – and the Commission 51 of the International Astronomical Union. The aim of the conference is to discuss and integrate recent discoveries in a variety of scientific fields including, for instance, the discovery of exoplanets, the early evolution of life or the molecular origins of life. This conference, opened to scientists, will also be an opportunity for outreach initiatives receiving a much wider audience.
