The Espace Pierre-Gilles de Gennes and its partners propose to organize a science village, “LE VILLAGE CURIE”.

Radium was discovered and firstly studied by Pierre and Marie Curie , at the Ecole de Physique et de Chimie (ESPCI) on "Montagne Ste Geneviève" in Paris. The whole scientific life of Pierre and Marie, and then of Irene and Frederic Joliot-Curie was centered in this "Curie Village”. The Espace Pierre-Gilles de Gennes and its partners propose to organize a science village, “LE VILLAGE CURIE” from the Pantheon to ESPCI, to inform young people and general public about history of science and particularly chemistry in the present scientific campus. Among the proposed items : present trends in chemistry, women and sciences, superconductivity discovered a century ago.

Topic: history of chemistry Audience: school children, students, general public, secondary schools
