Introduce Chemistry Earlier

We need to introduce chemistry and all the sciences earlier in childrens lives but not viewed as an academic subject but also as an extra-curricula activity.

I think that we need to introduce chemistry and all the sciences earlier in childrens lives but not viewed as an academic subject but also as an extra-curricula activity. Once we begin to do this, the sciences become less of a 'chore' and instead an optional activity. Young children in primary school should be able to participate in the CREST investigators for 5-11year olds; this is a UK-wide award scheme that enables children to solve science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) problems through practical investigation. For further information on CRESTawards: http://www.britishscienceassociation.org/web/ccaf/CRESTStarInvestigators/index.htm

Not only will these children gain interest of chemistry whilst partcipating in these awards; they will gain lifelong skills that will benefit their develop academically and personally by obtaining the skills to be able to work independantly from a young age. Children who participate in CREST awards also are rewarded with certificates, encouraging and rewarding their learning. Also for some young individuals, they have the chance to become a Young Science Ambassor whilst completing these awards.

This will not only help the children but it'll also shape our future generation of scientists.

Topic: engaging the youth, hands-on activities Audience: school children, teachers, primary schools, iyc enthusiasts

i think chemistry for young age will be very different from chemistry of universities colleges i think it need to pratical ,pragmatic,  a chemistry for thing the children can find everyday so it is will change to biology or environnemental science  but we can think together with doctors in education to find a new way to give the taste of chemistry to  youg children
