Systemic Approach In Teaching and Learning Chemistry (SATLC)

Systemic approach is the arrangement and recognition of concepts i.e. how one concept or issue is related and linked with other concepts or issues in a system while teaching and learning chemistry. Systemic approach is a structured way while linear approach is un-structured way for delivering knowledge.

There are two ways for delivering knowledge 1. Linear approach and 2. Systemic approach. Systemic approach is the arrangement and recognition of concepts i.e. how one concept is related and linked with other in a system while teaching chemistry. There is no such relation in linear approach so it makes difficulty for students in understanding Chemistry. In other words systemic approach is a structured way of teaching and learning while linear approach is un-structured way for delivering knowledge. Most of the teachers around the globe follow the linear approach because of having less or no information about the advanced teaching methods (systemic approach).

The purpose of this idea is to introduce this teaching method around the globe, provide teaching models to teachers in all major field of chemistry, attracting students towards Chemistry, build relationship between all fields, solve problems systemically not only in Chemistry but also in daily life, produce research oriented scholars. Some times it is very hard to teach “Physical Chemistry” and students feel it is a boring subject but by using SATLC we can attract students towards this field, which is mother of all other fields of Chemistry.

There is need to formulate SATL models in all fields of Chemistry but initially in the major fields; Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry. The idea can be extended through out the globe by small lectures, conferences, workshops and training etc. This is particularly needed for developing countries where is less concentration on Chemistry.

Topic: hands-on activities, training, workshops, conferences, classrooms Audience: students, educators, teachers, professional chemists, universities, general public

i think it is impossible to learn chemistry by linear aproach, isnt it?

Yes, so more focus should be on SATLC, new approach for bettre learning.
