The II National Fastest Drawing Benzene Contest is a competition organized by the national pre-selection of chemistry to identify the most skilful student for drawing benzenes. In this meeting take part the pre-selected to go to the International and Iberoamerican Chemistry Olympiad.

Background:

The II National Fastest Drawing Benzene Contest is a competition organized by the national pre-selection of chemistry to identify the most skilful student for drawing benzenes. In this meeting take part the pre-selected to go to the International and Iberoamerican Chemistry Olympiad.

Objectives:

·         To stimulate the study about the benzene and its representations.

·         To promote in the young participants the conscience on the value of draw benzenes correctly.

·         To foster the friendship and cooperation between the members of the national pre-selection of chemistry.

      To contest:

The Mexican students of high school level, members of the national pre-selection of chemistry, connoisseurs of the canonical forms of benzene.

Basis of the competition:

·         The jury will select a number of benzenes, and every participant will draw this quantity quickly.

·         When the participant has finished, he must shout: I finish! The end of competition will be invalid if the student does not shout.

·         The designation of the pairs to competing will be done at random extracting numbered papers without trap that will be inside a black bag previously prepared by the jury.

·         Seven pairs will be formed and the one that obtains the paper with the number one will go on to the second round automatically. The order of participation is of 2-3, 4-5, and this way successively. The eliminating will adjust in order that the number of couples is pair in every round.

Criteria of value estructures:

·         The structures must be represented in simple forms.

·         The representations must be hexagonal figures.

·         The simple or double bonds must be distinguished.

·         The hydrogen atoms will be omitted by clarity.

·         The resonant structures are prohibited.

Prizes:

The jury will integrate by ex-Olympics from different states who are studying at the Chemistry Faculty of the UNAM and their decision will be in-appealable.

The winner will receive a Erlenmeyer matraz of 50 mL, when the meeting finished.  The matraz will buy by all participants.

In the award, the second in the competition will cross the foot-ball field of the Chemistry Faculty for give the prize to the absolute winner.
