I suggest presenting a suitable Award for the best performing IYC 2011 National Secretariat. The fund can be used for advancement of Chemistry in the particular country.

It is evident from the information available on the IYC web site and other printed publications that the participating countries are very much keen and dedicated in achieving the IYC goals and for this purpose many activities are being implemented by them. The programmes will  have a considerable impact  increase the public appreciation of chemistry in meeting world needs,  encourage interest in chemistry among young people and  generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry.

Colorful stamps printed in several countries accord  historical importance to the declaration of IYC 2011 by the UN.

It has been possible to develop linkages with various international educational and development agencies through the information provided on the web site.

Generally the interest among children on chemistry education is being increased. Public awareness on chemistry  too is also being increased.

While the profession of chemistry would have a better future,  proper recognition for the contribution made by the chemists for development will be achieved.

I suggest presenting an award for the best performing  IYC National Secretariat along with concessional prizes for several others. All the participating institutions may be provided with a  valuable certificate with a view to appreciating their dedication towards achieving the goals of IYC 2011.
