This project aims at presenting widely accessible themed reports on the various chemistry and chemistry-related research performed in public laboratories of the Midi-Pyrenees region. 2011 will celebrate the International Year of Chemistry but, in Toulouse, is very special as it also corresponds to the 10th anniversary of the explosion of the AZF fertilizer factory, an industrial catastrophe that killed dozens and injured thousands on 21 Sept. 2001.

These reports will be issued on a regular basis throughout 2011, in conjunction with conferences and exhibitions. Three major research fields have been identified : Chemistry and sustainable development; Chemistry and materials; Chemistry and health. They are in line with the regional poles of competitiveness : cancer; agronomy; aeronautics and space industry (with the Aquitaine region); ceramics (with the Limousin and Centre regions).
