Radiance
The Passion of Marie Curie
Coinciding with the International Year of Chemistry and the 100th anniversary of Marie Curie’s Nobel Prize in chemistry, the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles, CA is producing the world premiere of Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie.
Written by acclaimed actor, writer and science enthusiast Alan Alda, Radiance delves into the life and romance of one of the most brilliant female scientists in history. Famous for her groundbreaking research in radioactivity, Curie was the only person ever to win two Nobel Prizes in multiple sciences, but not without a struggle.
As a hub of the Los Angeles theater scene since 1995, the Geffen Playhouse is know for its mix of classics and contemporary plays, provocative new works and musicals. This year, Radiance: The Passion of Marie Curie is not only an ideal fit for the season but also a remarkably timely piece for the science community. The theater is excited for this opportunity to join forces with the chemistry community to present this show. It will run from November 1 through December 11, 2011.
