As a part of celebration of the International Year of Chemistry and 70 Years of the Department of Chemistry, St. Anthony's College, a ‘National Workshop on Emerging Trends in Nano Chemistry – 2011’ (NWETNC-11) is proposed to be organized on the 20th and 21st September, 2011.
Nano chemistry has emerged as a constituent of solid state materials chemistry. The branch of nano chemistry is involved in synthesis of small and perfect molecular size objects. However, to prepare perfect nano structures, new synthetic approach have to be developed. The particle size of the nano material has significant influence on its physical and chemical properties. When the particle size is reduced to nano meter scale (10-9 cm) it behaves completely different from their bulk counterparts.
Nano science and nano technology is today set to revolutionize our thought and action in so far as all round scientific advancement is concerned.
As the college celebrates the International Year of Chemistry and 70 years of existence of the Department of Chemistry this year, it was thought appropriate to organize a workshop in the name and style of “National Workshop on Emerging Trends in Nano Chemistry - 2011” (NWETNC-11) on the 20th and 21st September 2011. Prominent nano chemist from across the country are expected to make valuable contribution in the two day workshop, for the benefit of undergraduate, post graduate students, teachers, and other stake holders on this important issue of nano chemistry.
