The workshop will cover topics including commercialisation of research, patenting, importance of searching prior art, and managing intellectual property, with particular reference to the field of chemistry. Representatives of the German Patent and Trademark Office, the Technology Transfer Office and a patent attorney will present the perspectives of national aspects of dealing with intellectual property. Case studies of successful exploitation of IP assets will be presented in order to encourage research and innovation .

Content:

§        Insight into patent protection of inventions.

§        Practical information on the use of patents as a source of scientific knowledge.

§        Identification of key steps in the exploitation of IP.

§        Presentation of a success story of a spin off company.
