Healthy Skin for All – Reaching Half the World Deprived of Basic Care

May 03, 2011
RHS West Space, London College of Fashion, 20 John Princes St, London, W1G 0BJ

Dr Claire Fuller MA FRCP, Consultant Dermatologist, East Kent Hospitals NHS Trust and Dr Paul Matts of Procter & Gamble.

More than half of all disease in the developing world is skin-related and skin disease exerts a fearsome toll on first line health facilities, poor families, local and national economies and quality of life. Despite this huge need, funding for skin disease is negligible and half the world is denied access to basic skin care. The potential for intervention is, however, huge. The same basic skin care which enhances skin appearance and feel in the developed world can help save lives and livelihoods in the developing world. In this talk, the need and potential solutions will be discussed using case studies and first-hand experience. Come prepared to be moved and motivated!

Time: 6 - 7pm followed by drinks on the terrace
