Member companies of the Chemistry Council of New Jersey (CCNJ) and the American Chemistry Council (ACC) are hosting the 5th Annual "essential2life 5K Race." The event will take place at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, N.J., on Saturday, April 9, 2011.
This race has an important, two-fold purpose. First, it’s designed to highlight the role of chemistry as “essential2life”. Second, the race will benefit the American Red Cross, whose services are likewise essential.
We expect more than 600 runners and walkers to participate, including member company employees, their families and the general public. The event includes the 5K run, a 3K walk, a “kids sprint,” a fair to showcase our companies, raffle prizes and various educational and entertainment activities.
With your assistance, we can make the race an enormous success and help raise awareness about how the chemistry industry is vital to all aspects of life.
Proceeds from the race will benefit local chapters of the American Red Cross based on participants’ zip code and sponsors’ regional chapter. The Red Cross helps prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. While widely recognized for its humanitarian role in nationally-publicized disasters, it is a key response agency for local crises.
