Here, you can submit activities for consideration and, after a short review, they will be listed below and any related events will populate the IYC calendar. Activities listed here have a clearly defined theme and describe how, when, and where they will take place.

A healthy, wealthy, sustainable world

Dr. John Emsley talks about his latest book – ‘A Healthy, Wealthy, Sustainable World’ in Brussels on 19 September. The book was specifically written for International Year of Chemistry 2011 and describes the importance of chemistry in everyday life and the benefits that chemical science currently brings to society.

Employee volunteers from the sponsoring companies will network with high school students during the National Chemistry Week celebration at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the exciting careers chemistry has to offer.
Chemistry at the Garden

A 3 month exhibition from October to December at the University of Oxford Botanic Garden in conjunction with the University of Oxford Chemistry Department. The exhibition will focus on the links between plants and chemistry - photosynthesis, pigments, the chemistry of taste and smell, new materials inspired by plants etc.

The exposition will show different aspects about chemistry, such as industries, food, health, environmental issues. It consists of students´ productions, conferences, videos, stands from some chemical companies. The main goal is to show young students that chemistry is everywhere.
