In this section, your ideas for IYC2011 can start to become reality. Here, you can submit activities for consideration and, after a short review, they will be listed below and any related events will populate the IYC calendar. Activities listed here have a clearly defined theme and describe how, when, and where they will take place.

Global Stamp Competition: Chemistry as a Cultural Enterprise Lida Schoen | added on Sep 13, 2010 | Netherlands The Global Stamp Competition (IUPAC's CCE, Christiane Reiners and Lida Schoen) was launched at the opening ceremony of IYC 2011 in Paris on January 27-28, 2011. The competition was open to students all over the world in 3 age categories (12-14, 15-18 and undergraduates / teacher students from all subjects (not only chemistry!)
IYC Chemistry award Siobhan Murphy | added on Sep 12, 2010 | Ireland PharmaChemical Ireland will sponsor an IYC Chemistry Award at SciFest, this is a is a local one-day science fair held in third level colleges and open to all second level students. A SciFest fair includes a competition and exhibition of projects, a selection of science talks, science demonstrations in the college laboratories
A World without Polymers Giancarlo Galli | added on Aug 29, 2010 | International We will hold a video and essay contest celebrating IYC. The topic will be to imagine a "World without Polymers" and to write about the detrimental effect on society if polymers were absent. We expect to award prizes including a trip to the World Chemical Congress for award winners.

PACIA National Conference 2011 - The Business of Chemistry John Osborn | added on Aug 17, 2010 | Australia The Australian Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association (PACIA) National Conference is the highlight industry event of the year for the chemicals and plastics industry in Australia. The theme in 2011 will be 'The Business of Chemistry' in support of the International Year of Chemistry 2011 initiative.
