In this section, your ideas for IYC2011 can start to become reality. Here, you can submit activities for consideration and, after a short review, they will be listed below and any related events will populate the IYC calendar. Activities listed here have a clearly defined theme and describe how, when, and where they will take place.

Chemistry Week at the University of Costa Rica

A seminar on renewable energy and biofuels, recycling technologies and resource efficiency, water pollution prevention and treatment, carbon footprint and climate change. The 5th seminar will be assigned to an international guest speaker on a subject within sustainability issues.
Women in Chemistry

A 4 women panel will be selected to share their activities / research in topics related to sustainability, for example resource efficiency and electronic waste; nanotechnology applications; structural coloration; and modern battery technologies.
Careers in Chemistry

A series of up to 9 careers of chemists will be highlighted with descriptions of what the chemist is doing and the chemistry behind. Some of the careers will come from the academic, private and public sector, like customs, metrology, forensics, environment, health, teaching, quality control, production, etc
Molecules at an Exhibiion in the National Lottery

Ten chemicals will be displayed, one on each piece of lottery (1-10). The proposed graphic design would contain the chemical structure, the generic name and the logo of IYC and Colegio de Quimicos. Information of the importance of the chemical will be available on a web page (Fundacion CIENTEC) with a short explanation.
"Expanding the Frontiers of Chemistry" - Seminar Series at the National University in Heredia, Costa Rica

An academic seminar under the topic "Expanding the frontiers of chemistry" will be held at the School of Chemistry (National University, Costa Rica) celebrating 2011-IYC. Invited speakers from abroad will share their experience in teaching and researching chemistry with local students and academia.
