Career Highlights and Influence of Marie Curie on Women Scientists

Dr. Darleane Hoffman will touch on a few highlights of her career and then discuss some of Marie Sklodowska-Curie’s less well -known contributions. She will also comment on the celebration this year of the 100th anniversary of the Award of the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry to Marie Curie as the sole recipient.

The "2011 NJC Symposium: New Directions in Chemistry" will feature talks by 8 well-known chemists, all members of NJC's editorial board, working in different areas of chemistry. The presentations will highlight the contributions of chemistry to a variety of challenges faced by our society (environment, health, electronics...).
