In this section, your ideas for IYC2011 can start to become reality. Here, you can submit activities for consideration and, after a short review, they will be listed below and any related events will populate the IYC calendar. Activities listed here have a clearly defined theme and describe how, when, and where they will take place.

Painting Chemistry

Conference on the history of chemical industry, organized by Archivio del Cinema Industriale (Industrial Films Archive) at LIUC University. The conference will show the evolution of industrial chemistry in Italy, from 1940s to 1990, trough contributions of business historians, industrialists and trough historical documentaries
The American Chemical Society's IYC 2011 website

As part of the IYC-2011 initiative, the American Chemical Society has sponsored a website to promote chemistry to the general public and assist interested users in finding and sponsoring outreach activities in 2011. This website is a single-source portal containing the ACS' contribution to this truly global celebration.
Global Stamp Competition: Chemistry as a Cultural Enterprise

The Global Stamp Competition (IUPAC's CCE, Christiane Reiners and Lida Schoen) was launched at the opening ceremony of IYC 2011 in Paris on January 27-28, 2011. The competition was open to students all over the world in 3 age categories (12-14, 15-18 and undergraduates / teacher students from all subjects (not only chemistry!)
A World without Polymers

We will hold a video and essay contest celebrating IYC. The topic will be to imagine a "World without Polymers" and to write about the detrimental effect on society if polymers were absent. We expect to award prizes including a trip to the World Chemical Congress for award winners.
