The aim of this symposium, that will be held during the 2011 IUPAC Congress, is to provide for an opportunity to discuss and brainstorm about how chemistry can contribute to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals.
This symposium of the 43rd World Chemistry Conference aims to provide for an opportunity to discuss and brainstorm about how chemistry can contribute to achieve the UN Millennium Development Goals.
The theme of the symposium "The Chemical Element: Chemistry's Contribution to our Global Future” is at the core of the objectives of the International Year of Chemistry and based on our confidence that human ingenuity can contribute toward solutions to the problems we have created.
Some of the topics that will be discussed include:
· Chemistry for Development
· Hunger and Food Security
· Poverty
· Education
· Health
· Green Chemistry
· Water
· Energy
· Ozone layer depletion and Climate Change
The symposium, that will last half-a-day, will be divided in short presentations and
finished by a panel on the theme of the symposium. This activity is open to anyone and we
invite to send an abstracts to: j.garcia@ua.es
