Anatolia College Green Chemistry Activities Presentation

The green efforts of Anatolia College High School , with the emphasis put on Green Chemistry, will be presented by the " Go Green" club advisor Dr.Elias Kalambokis and a small group of the 140 total students-club members. More than ten green projects will be demonstrated.
Anatolia College, a non-profit private educational Institution located in Thessaloniki, Greece will make a presentation of its High school division green efforts celebrating the 2011 International Year of Chemistry .
The "Go Green" club advisor Dr. Elias Kalambokis and a selected group of students, out of the 140 total members of the club will demonstarte the" State of the Art" green activities, focused mostly on Green Chemistry and Green Education, they have already accomplished (projects include the greening of the chemistry labs, the introduction of micro-scale and microwave chemistry, the implementation of the 12 principles of Green Chemistry in the curriculum, the construction of a chemical based solar cell, the synthesis of soaps, body and face creams out of natural ingredients, the synthesis and evaluation of biodiesel,etc. ).
The students have also been exposed to lectures by distinguished scientists on the fields of green chemistry, solar power, green school buildings, hydrogen technology etc.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 5, 2011, 6.30 pm at the Downtown Harvard Club in Boston,MA. It is organized by the Anatolia College Board of Trustees in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of Anatolia College. Governor Michael Dukakis and First Lady Kitty will be attending. University Professors, graduate students,educators, graduate students and high school students will discuss green chemistry issues.
