Women in Chemistry; lecturers, students, alumni and role models in the field; will get together on Tuesday, 18th January, 2011 to discuss a number of topics including the importance of chemistry in life and the pivotal role of Marie Curie in Chemistry.
The women in chemistry, University of Nairobi, Kenya are organizing a breakfast at the School of Physical Sciences (SPS), Chiromo campus boardroom to network with other countries to celebrate the IYC and also to commemorate the Marie Curie’s pivotal role in chemistry. There will be power point presentations, discussions and video footage on the events of the day. The discussion will include; chemistry in life, women’s struggle in the field of Chemistry, challenges in the awareness and hence growth of chemistry as compared to other subjects and Marie Curie’s pivotal role in chemistry. The event will be attended by academic members of staff, undergraduates and postgraduate students, alumni and role models in the field. The breakfast will be held on Tuesday, 18th February, 2011 between 9.00-1.00 GMT to be in harmony with other breakfast meetings.
