CHEMEX-2 Exhibition & Open Days at The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon , Rajagiriya, Sri Lanka

The Exhibition and Open days conducted from 24-26 November, involved display of exhibits of academic nature mainly in Chemistry, Magic Shows in Chemistry, Seminars etc. This will be of immense benefit to the students.
Creation of awareness on Chemistry is one of the important goal of the International Year of Chemistry (IYC 2011) declared by the UN. The CHEMEX 2011 Exhibition and Trade Fair conducted by this Institute at BMICH from 27th to 30th January 2011 brought much benefits, especially to the younger generation of the country. It has been estimated that a good cross section of the society, around 200,000 including school children and, university students, visited the exhibition. Participation of teachers and school children from the areas such as Jaffna, Akkaraipattu and Mullaitivu is of special significance.
The students had opportunity to actively participate in the debates and seminars which were conducted by the academics and professionals in chemistry and chemical sciences and listen to key note addresses and guest speeches delivered by eminent chemists and industrialists in Sri Lanka. The theme of the IYC 2011, ‘Chemistry our Life Our future’ had no doubt deeply penetrated into the minds of younger generation and the general public through the exhibition. As a result a considerable demand has been created thus more and more schools requesting for continuation of such activities.
The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon conducted an Exhibition & Open Days from 24th-26th November 2011 at the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon & College of Chemical Sciences Premises, Adamantane House 341/22,Kotte Rd, Welikada, Rajagiriya.The Open Day Exhibition involved display of exhibits of academic nature mainly in Chemistry, Magic Shows in Chemistry, Seminars etc. It was of of immense benefit to the students who study Chemistry as a subject and also contributed to the creation of interest among the other students. The Exhibition and Open Day attracted students from many schools in the remote areas.
