Chemistry and Industry - programme of activities the 1st quarter of IYC2011 in Syria

Programme of activities and events in the first quarter of the International year of Chemistry in Syria (entitled Chemistry and Industry)

The Syrian Chemical Society organizes several activities and events during his celebrating the IYC 2011 in Syria which consist of:

  • February 21, 2011 at 18:00, Lecture of "chemistry and occupational health and safety".
  • February 26, 2011 at 09:00, Visiting a plant of detergent industry "MADAR for detergent industries", max. 50 participants.
  • March 07, 2011 at 18:00, Lecture of "Cement industries".
  • March 12, 2011 at 08:00, Visiting a plant of cement industry "Al-Badia Cement industries", max. 100 participants.
  • March 22, 2011 at 18:00, Lecture of "Quality management in industrial plants".
  • March 26, 2011 at 09:00, Visiting a plant of food industry "Katakit for Food industries", max. 50 participants.
  • April 05, 2011 at 18:00, Lecture of "Paints and its raw materials".
  • April 09, 2011 at 09:00, Visiting a plant of Paints industry "Al Azmeh for paints industries", max. 50 participants.
  • April 12, 2011, Workshop of "Scientific research between industry and research centers", Faculty of Sciences, Damascus University.
  • From April 14, 2011 till April 16, 2011, "SYRIACHEM 2011", the international fair of chemical industries and the raw materials, Damascus Fairgrounds.
  • April 19, 2011 at 18:00, Lecture of "The economic prospects of chemistry".
  • March 07, 2011, Competition: the Best idea of the imagination and the development of future product.
  • March 07, 2011, Competition: the Best industrial anthropomorphic model.

In refer to the lecture of "Paints and its raw materials":

Could we to add phosphates zinc cristals in paints made based on water ?

Usually phosphates zinc crystals used in paints based on Oil as an Anti-corrosion agent , but we can’t use it in paints based on water because of its ability to react with the water
