A long term programme which will encourage students to be more sensitive towards environmental issues. Therefore to educate about the importance of preserving our mother nature.

Labuan Matriculation College has been proud of its role to serve as one of the most outstanding Science college in Malaysia. We are emphasizing on the importance of Science learning and teaching with the vision of having our students to deepen their interest in Science subjects and therefore pursuing a degree in Science.   In conjunction of the International Year of Chemistry, Labuan Matriculation College Chemistry Unit team has officially started its 'Save Our Earth!!!' programme this year and it is going to be a long term project.   The objectives of this programme are:
  • To raise awareness of the importance to conserve nature
  • To educate everybody in the college to be more sensitive towards environmental issues
  • To make Labuan Matriculation College greener

There are numbers of activities being planned for this year in accordance to the objectives of SOE programme.

Two of them which we have already started are:

  • The implementation of recycle bins in the college campus
  • Encouraging the discontinuation of the use of polystyrene packs in every cafeteria and making Friday as a 'No Polystyrene Day'
  • Incorporating environmental issues within the Chemistry syllabus

The SOE committee are very keen to see a positive change in everybody and we are planning to expand this awareness beyond our college. We are looking forward for any partnerships from within and outside Malaysia.

Together we can make a difference! Through chemistry we can make Earth a better place to live!
