Chemical Laboratory Safety and Security Educational Materials for International Audiences

These educational materials outline chemical laboratory management best practices, including enhanced safety and security in the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals. The materials include a reference book, instructors guide, laboratory signs, and more. Will be available in Arabic, English, French, and Indonesian.

We have prepared a set of educational materials based on Prudent Practices in the Laboratory:  Safe Handling and Disposal of Chemicals. The educational materials outline chemical laboratory management best practices, especially for developing countries, including enhanced safety and security in the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.

The materials include a reference book, instructors guide, laboratory signs, and more. They will be distributed for free via the U.S. Chemical Security Engagement Program and the U.S. National Academies' Board on Chemical Sciences and Technology. The materials will be available in Arabic, English, French, and Indonesian starting December 2010.

Topics covered in the educational materials include:

This is really a great idea and a great effort. As a resident in Saudi Arabia I can surely understand the need for such books translated in Arabic as the language barrier here is a big issue. I have made a booklet in lab safety myself in Arabic and distributed it for free here at King Saud University, Riyadh, but I find that also video tapes about lab safety and International safety regulations would be of great help to people in developing countries
