"Chemistry Matters": short, educational videos with 16 Nobel Laureates in Chemistry on Nobelprize.orgActivity by Merci Olsson | added on Dec 27, 2010 | Sweden
“Chemistry is really the queen of the sciences. If there is any one subject that an educated person should know in the world, it is chemistry.” Roger Kornberg, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry 2006
Beginning January 27th, and in conjunction with the launch of the International Year of Chemistry 2011, Nobelprize.org (http://nobelprize.org/), the official web site of the Nobel Prize, will feature a series of four videos called “Chemistry Matters”. Each video is under ten minutes long, and explores a specific theme, be it the beauty inherent in chemistry or the adventure of life as a chemist. Featuring highlights from interviews with 16 Nobel Laureates in Chemistry, the videos recapture those breakthrough moments when a Laureate discovers ‘a little logic of nature’ and explore precisely why some maintain that ‘chemistry is the underpinning science’.
Designed for students aspiring to a career in chemistry, the videos not only highlight the achievement of these Laureates but also celebrate the International Year of Chemistry 2011 and the next generation of chemists to come.
