The Theatre company Encerrado para Obras is creating a new show associated to the Chemistry theme. This project is beeing done in cooperation with Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra, and will make its premiere in the world theatre day, march 27.

Since 2005, Encerrado para Obras has produced several shows based on science themes: "Eureka! Uma Viagem ao Mundo da Física" (2005), Physicomic (2006), Sol e Lóquio (2007) in cooperation with the Coimbra University Physics Museum and "Clones e Clowns" (2007), "Minha Árvore Minha Casa (2008), "A Fábrica de Sons" (2010) in cooperation with Exploratório - Centro Ciência Viva de Coimbra.

This new play is still under construction but we can already say that it will iclude lot of scenes based on chemistry demos. But this will be done in a dramatic way, that is to say that these scenes will integrate the story of the play in a subtle and spontaneous way. We must not forget that we are theatre actors and not chemistry professors, that´s why our main goal is to create an interesting and dynamic show, even if we don´t consider the fact that it´s about chemistry. Scientifical knowledge is only a beggining point for us, a point from where we can write a new theatre and circus play, creating a storyline that allows us to include some hot chemistry props, but never forgetting that this is not a class or a demonstration - so we treat this scientifical knowledge with an artistic view.

We will put some more information and links as soon as possible.

Topic: celebrating chemistry, hands-on activities, chemistry shows Audience: secondary school students, tertiary education, educators
