An inter-school quiz on Chemistry was organised on November 26 in which participants from 22 schools from all over Odisha took part. The competition was held in six rounds and six schools qualified for the final rounds
“CHEMISTRY” – THE MOTHER OF SCIENCES
Bhubaneswar, 26 Nov : ‘Chemistry is the mother of sciences’ – opined the Director of NISER, Prof. T. K. Chandrasekhar as the Chief Speaker on the occasion of the celebrations of International Year of Chemistry (IYC) 2011 at DAV Public School, Unit-VIII. Prof. Chandrasekhar threw light on the multifaceted applications of Chemistry and answered various fundamental questions on science asked by students. He was speaking on the occasion of ‘Career Fair’, a part of IYC 2011 which is being celebrated since November 12. An inter-school quiz on Chemistry was organised on November 26 in which participants from 22 schools from all over Odisha took part. The competition was held in six rounds and six schools qualified for the final rounds. In the final round, Anuvab Mohanty & Kaustubha Panda, students of DAV Chandrasekharpur were declared champions, Dibya Ranjan Panda & Salman Siddique Khan of Xaviers High School, Cuttack – 1st Runners up and Sameer Sekhar Patra & Biswajeet Rath of St. Xavier’s High School, Khandagiri were declared the 2nd Runners up. All the 25 schools that participated in various events like Poster Making, Seminar & Quiz were given trophies and certificates. School Chairman Sri Madan Mohan Panda, Retd. IAS was the Chief Guest in the function. He gave away prizes to the meritorious students. Quiz Master Shovan Rath conducted the competition.
Dr. (Mrs.) Bhagyabati Nayak, the Principal of DAV Public School, Unit-VIII thanked all the participants and members who were involved in the function.
