In line with the commitment of Ateneo de Manila University and Ateneo Chemistry Society in promoting academic excellence, the Ateneo Chemistry Olympiad was created as a venue for high school students with exemplary skills and talents in chemistry to come together in the spirit of friendly competition and sportsmanship.

AChO 2012 is a contest for high schools students from different high schools in the National Capital Region of the Philippines, happening on the 21st of January 2012. The contest has 3 rounds, namely the elimination, laboratory, and final rounds. It is a team contest with each group consisting of 3 members. From the elimination round, only 10-15 teams will advance to the next two rounds, and the top 3 teams after all rounds will be awarded. It will take place in the Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

The organization, through this project, wants to exemplify the achievements of humankind in the field of Chemistry and its effect on the betterment of humankind. The Ateneo Chemistry Olympiad aims to raise the awareness of chemistry among the high school students, as well the general public which will be involved in the project. This event will also serve as an avenue to attract the young people into considering the field of Chemistry (or other related sciences) as their college courses by exposing and emphasizing the role of Chemistry and natural sciences in solving global problems.
