Here the students got an opportunity to obeserve closely the practical applications of chemistry in industrial sector. They were first taken to the production unit of plastics and were introduced to injection moulding unit and its many sub systems. They saw the live manufacturer of plastic buckets, containers.they were then taken to see polymerisation and to the testing unit where they saw the instruments like INSTRON, the universal testing machine which could measure the tensile strength of a material. Another instrument the laboratory ageing oven which could measure the decomposition rate of various polymers was shown to them.Again tey saw Haze meter, differential scanning calorimeter, gas permiability tester etc were also shown. They also visited to Shivam chemicals where they saw a small chemical industry of orrissa which manufacture various products like prepartion ofwhit phenyl and sodium hypochlorite solution.
