To celebrate the International Year of Chemistry, we at the University of Lethbridge will be hosting an evening of public lectures and demonstration at the Lethbridge Public Library.  The lectures; one on plastics in everyday life and the other on William Perkin’s discovery of the dye mauve and the impact it had on history, were chosen to hopefully enlighten and entertain the audience.  Between the two lectures, the hosts will do a short demonstration, making nylon in a beaker, which will tie-in nicely with the plastics lecture.

Topic: celebrating chemistry, chemistry education, seminars, hands-on activities, demonstrations Audience: students, general public, professional chemists, professors, educators, teachers, research scientists, universities, industrial chemists, post graduate students, women chemists, educational institutions, secondary school students, decision makers, high schools, school children, tertiary education, secondary schools, secondary schools students
