2. VIGYAN JIGYASA : For creating interest in Chemistry for School children, this activity of “Acquaintance with a Chemistry Lab” is planned. The 7th/8th/9th Class students of Government Schools (from Nagpur and nearby villages) will be participating in this. The Chemistry Lab of Institute of Science will be open for the School Children. The Objective is to acquaint the children with whatever they study in theory, they will have a first hand exposure to the Chemistry lab and equipment. They can see, perhaps for the first time, the basic equipment in a Chemistry Lab (like test tubes, burners, burettes, pipettes etc., which are not available in a Govt. School, where as in a Pvt. School, now a days they have Chemistry labs) and live- demo of few basic chemistry experiments like burning of Magnesium wire etc. Enough care will be taken to see that the equipment and experiments, will be decided after referring the Textbooks of the respective classes. There will be volunteers of BSc and MSc students in the Lab, for explaining to the visitors. The volunteers will prepare relevant Charts (in Marathi) and display.
