A 3 month exhibition from October to December at the University of Oxford Botanic Garden in conjunction with the University of Oxford Chemistry Department. The exhibition will focus on the links between plants and chemistry - photosynthesis, pigments, the chemistry of taste and smell, new materials inspired by plants etc.
Chemistry at the Garden
An exhibition by the Department of Chemistry at the Univeristy of Oxford Botanic Garden
Free with entry to the Botanic Garden, during regular opening hours. (See www.botanic-garden.ox.ac.uk)
The exhibition will include posters and self guided activities devised by research scientists at the University Department of Chemistry. The aims of the posters and activities are to encourage an interest in plant based chemistry, increase the appreciation of chemistry in meeting world needs, and generate enthusiasm for the creative future of chemistry.
Posters and activities will illustrate themes such as:
Medicines from plants
The chemistry of taste and smell
Fuel from the sun: photosynthesis and solar hydrogen production
Chemical responses to seasonal change
