An Undergraduate Organic Competition is scheduled on Feb 7, 2011 at the American University of Beirut, Lebanon. This is an activity celebrating IYC 2011. The competition is open to ALL students who completed Organic I and Organic II courses. Teams of two students will be competing using Clickers with the "Fastest Responders" tool. Students are allowed to choose their partners. The competition is made of 15-20 multiple-choice questions with four-six possible choices. Prof. Kaafarani will present each question and will allow students some time to enter their answers. When all responses are collected, as indicated by the software on the slide as well, the statistics of students' answers are shown on the slide. Then, the instructor explains every question and analyzes the provided choices and students’ responses. A slide listing the top five “Fastest Responders” teams will be posted. The team with the correct answer in the fasted time gets 50 points; the second team gets 40 points; the third team gets 30 points; the fourth team gets 20 points; the fifth team gets 10 points. Another projector updates the rank of the competing teams. At the end of the session, the team with the largest number of points will be declared the winner of the First Undergraduate Organic Competition at the American University of Beirut. Faculty and students are invited to attend the competition, which will be followed by a reception. The session will be videotaped and will be posted on Youtube.
