ICEC2010 will acquaint Chemistry teachers with the latest trends in the vibrant field of Chemistry education at the tertiary level through workshops, lectures and presentations by eminent experts from USA, UK, and India.
The International Conference on Education in Chemistry will be held during November 12-14, 2010 at Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research), Mumbai. The Conference , which is the first of its kind to be organised in India , is a prelude to the year long celebrations of IYC 2011 in India. The Conference is being organised by the Association of Chemistry Teachers which is the national apex body of Chemistry educators in India and Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education which is the premier center for research in Science educaton in the country.
The Conference aims at familarising teachers with the emerging trends Chemistry education at the tertiary level through invited lectures , workshops and an exhibition of the latest aids related to Chemistry and Science education.The Conference will focus on innovations in Chemistry teaching including experimentation, pedagogy and research in Chemistry education. A novel feature of the conference will be the oral and poster presentatoins by the participants of their own innovative work.
Nearly 150 teachers from India and abroad are expected to participate which includes a sizeable number of lady teachers.The Conference will provide an opportunity to the teachers especially the younger lot to interact with some of the most renowned names in Chemistry Education It is envisaged that the Conference will emerge as a regular forum for exchange of academic ideas through interactions of national and international peer groups.
The Conference will address the objectives of IYC 2011 particularly involvement of women and youth in Chemistry Teaching. The exhibition will be kept open to the students and public so that they can understand and appreciate the role of Chemistry in everyday life.
