Monroe City Scholars Nature of Science Summer Camp

Monroe City Scholars targets rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students in the local public school system. The summer camp provides an opportunity to explore career opportunities in the science and also participate in a week long, inquiry-based activity partnered with a faculty member based around the Global Water Experiment.

Monroe City Scholars targets rising 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students in the local public school system.  The summer camp provides an opportunity to explore career opportunities in the science and also participate in a week long, inquiry-based activity partnered with a faculty member based around the Global Water Experiment.  Students will explore the properties of the local watershed during the mornings and also talk with professionals in the soil and water analysis profession.  In the afternoons, the students will work in groups to complete the four experiments which are part of the Global Water Experiment: Water, a chemical solution.  The students will submit their results to the Global Water Experiment website and also prepare a presentation for parents and the public based around their investigations.
