The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon is organizing an International Conference on Chemical Sciences, during 20-22 June 2012 at Waters Edge, Battaramulla and Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The major aim of the conference will be to discuss how chemistry meets the global challenges of clean air, safe water, healthy food, dependable medicine from plants, and how the chemical education imparted to our students achieve the UN Millennium development goals.
The conference will, therefore, bring together chemists, environmentalists, food scientists, educationists and other scientists on a common platform to exchange ideas and discuss the role of chemistry research in national development.
The conference will, therefore, focus on the following main topics in chemistry. The names of the Chairpersons and the Secretaries/Co-ordinators of the five topics are given below:

Abstracts on the above topics should be sent to the Secretary/Co-ordinator, identified above, for each topic.
Abstracts are also accepted in other main areas of chemistry and electronic copies in these areas should be sent by email to
Acceptance of abstracts will be notified by 15 February 2012 to enable authors to pay the early bird Registration fees by 29 February 2012.
Authors should indicate if they wish to present their papers orally or in the poster sessions.
The two best posters, in each of the above topics, will receive cash awards: First Prize - Rs 5,000 and Second Prize - Rs 3,000. Professor Eugene de Silva (USA) has sponsored these prizes.
