The incredible story of Emilio and his friends starts while looking for the answers to these questions and some others. Through strange adventures, talking molecules and walking atoms, the Gang of Chemists will discover some scientific mysteries and will enjoy experimenting under the shade of trees in a city park. That is until an unforeseen event which destroys their attempt to grow some crystals and the group of friends will have to deal with a pair of intruders.

 

This interesting group of friends will play with chemistry, and talk about life and science

(THE GANG OF CHEMISTS)

 

This narrative book is an amusing and educational project for IYC 2011, especially directed towards young readers.

 

LA BANDA DEI CHIMICI is a short romance which aims to contribute to the growth of a solid scientific culture in the younger generation, particularly in the field of chemistry. Because of the dual character of the book, which joins the pleasure of the narration with the educational intent, it is a perfect way to reach the young public for a long time.

The book consists of 80 pages, illustrated by Maria Giovanna Lanfranchi.

 

The authors:

Fosca Conti Elger is assistant professor in Physical Chemistry at the Department of Chemical Sciences of the University of Padova (Italy). She is author of scientific publications in international journals. Her three daughters have inspired the story of this book.

Barbara Fresch is post-doctoral researcher at the University of Liège (Belgium) in the group of Theoretical Chemistry. She is also interested in the field of science communication.

Maria Giovanna Lanfranchi lives in Milan and works as illustrator.

 

 

LA BANDA DEI CHIMICI is already interesting schools and science institutions like universities. It is available since May 2011, edited by Cleup.

 

The authors Fosca Conti Elger and Barbara Fresch are interested to sell the rights to local publishers around the world (Italy not included).
