An annual natiional science competition for Primary School students to encourage young scientists and promote learning of science among schoolchildren.
Each year NATA conducts a national competition for primary schools - The NATA Young Scientists of the Year Award. In recognition of IYC2011, the theme this year will be "Chemistry in our Lives".
There will be three age groups in the competition: 7 & 8 yrs old, 9 & 10 yrs old, and 11 & 12 yrs old. The winner's school in each age group will receive a $3000 donation, with an additional cash prize of $500 for each winning student group.
Invitations to enter the competition will be sent to all 7850 primary schools in Australia - public, private and Catholic. A poster kit will be sent to principals in July, with submissions to be received by 23 September. Entries will be judged by a team of NATA scientists and winners will be announced in mid-October.
