The Chemistry Department of Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is establishing an "Experimentarium" that is a simple yet flexible environment that will enable teachers to illustrate to their students a range of basic key themes as well as more exciting topics.
To stimulate interest in science, and in particular to demonstrate the fascinating role that Chemistry plays in so many aspects of our daily lives, the Chemistry Department of Universite Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is establishing and "EXPERIMENTARIUM". This will be a lab taht is open to teachers and students or primary and secondary schools where they can explore topics in Chemistry. This permanent hands-on chemistry lab will be supervised by the staff and the students of the ULB. To mark the IYC, the facility will be available to teachers and students as from November 2011.
The goal of the EXPERIMENTARIUM is to provide a simple yet flexible environment that will enable teachers to illustrate to their students a range of basic key themes (such as the concepts of separation, phase changes, pH, redox reactions), as well as more exciting topics expected to appeal to teenagers, such as "Crime Science Investigations", light and chemistry (luminescence, electroluminescence), environment issues, molecular cooking...
