Issues around food security, bio-energy and materials, and the environmental impact of advances in science and technology are quickly raising the profile of agricultural R&D.
This one day event will bring together young researchers working in the broad areas of science required for innovations to increase the yield, quality and sustainability of agricultural systems. Those working downstream in food, energy or materials are also welcome with a view to generate a broad network of young talent in this emerging sector. The event is primarily for postgraduates and researchers in their first post-doctoral position.
- Present your research results or reviews to a multidisciplinary audience and practice skills in communication of science
- Build networks of peers working in a variety of inter-related disciplines
The full programme will be published after the deadline for offered papers and posters has passed, but will comprise oral paper and poster sessions, time for networking and an awards ceremony.

Post-graduate researchers wishing to present a 20 minute oral paper or an A0 poster (1189 mm x 841 mm) should submit an abstract:
- 300 words (max.) indicating title, authors and preference for oral or poster presentation
- Topics may be either research results or reviews
Cash prizes (to be announced latter) will be awarded for the best papers and posters with additional prizes for runners-up. Judging will be by fellow delegates on the basis of quality of science, potential for innovation and, importantly, presentation and clarity of communication.
Oral presentation slots will be limited. These will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Should more applications be made than there are places available the opportunity to present a poster will be offered.
Abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by 22 April 2011.
Your place and presentation will be confirmed within two weeks of submission.
SCI BioResources Young Researchers 2010 will be held in the Palmer Building on the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus. Details of travel to Reading and a campus map can be found by following this link:
It is anticipated that most delegates will want to present an oral paper or poster, but those not wishing to present nor falling into the category of ‘young researchers’ will also be very welcome to attend.
