Awards for the Best Bachelor, Master and PhD theses in Chemical Sciences in México. This year, the awards are named after the first recognized mexican chemistry scientist, Vicente Ortigosa y de los Rios, who studied in Germany during the first half of the 19th century.
The Organizing Committee of the IYC in Mexico, The Mexican Academy of Sciences and the Mexican Chemical Society will grant the 2011 National Awards “Vicente Ortigosa y de los Ríos” for the Best Bachelor, Master and PhD theses in Chemical Sciences. The registration of the candidates for this distinction will be received until May 31, 2011 (see www.sqm.org.mx for further details) and the Prizes for the three categories will be awarded during the opening ceremony of the 46th Mexican Chemical Congress and the 30th National Congress of Chemical Education in the City of Queretaro, Mexico, Saturday, September 10th, 2011. They shall consist of a Medal, a diploma and some financial support. The Mexican Chemical Society will provide a forum for the awardees for presentation of their results during the Congresses.
The Jury shall be composed of nine members appointed by several National Institutions and Organizations, such as Secretaría de Educación Pública, Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología, Asociación Nacional de Universidaddes e Instituciones de Educación Superior, the Mexican Academy of Sciences, among others.
The purpose of these awards is to celebrate the IYC and to recognize outstanding recent Bachelor, Master and PhD theses whose results contribute significantly to the understanding of some aspects of the chemical sciences.
