We love Chemistry! So we created www.humantouchofchemistry.com. Aimed at kids and chemistry enthusiasts, it will refresh the audiences with the long forgotten wonders of Chemistry. The platform celebrates chemistry and how it touches us in every day life.

Chemistry and chemicals are truly an indispensible part of our lives - just imagine a day without chemicals! However, the industry is still treated as ‘hazardous, unsafe and polluting’. This perception needs to change for the benefit of mankind.

Based on the insight, ‘Chemicals are Good and Chemistry is Fun’, Tata Chemicals Limited conceptualized a portal ( www.humantouchofchemistry.com ) targeted at school students and chemistry enthusiasts. The content has been specially selected to inculcate a love for chemistry and add to the knowledge that students are already imparted through school curriculum. The website includes information spanning different topics including environmental issues like climate change, explanation of how chemicals react, naturally occurring chemical compounds, indispensible use of certain chemicals etc.

The underlying need for this initiative is to create positive imagery about chemistry; acknowledge the contributions of this industry towards humanity and to seed a generation of chemistry enthusiasts who could fuel further innovations in the field of Chemistry.

Since the sciences are now intermingled, this site also has topics that straddle physics and biology to give it a rounded science feel. The site will soon become a comprehensive platform covering many more streams of science. The sections, applications and ways to participate have been strategized to encourage participation by schools, students, teachers and chemistry enthusiasts.

As it gains momentum through the various promotional activities including the use of social media tools ( http://www.facebook.com/humantouchofchemistry ) , we intend to introduce various new modules that would essentially engage the audience on the tenets of Chemistry.

Some of the activities that would be launched under the ‘Human Touch of Chemistry’ banner to commemorate the IYC 2011 are:

1.    Interactive Games on Science and Chemistry (Interactive game on Sustainability and Climate Change – Launched - http://www.humantouchofchemistry.com/games )

2.    Videos on Chemistry in Every Day Life

3.    Best Chemistry Teacher award

4.    Interactive workshops with scientists and students through school connect programs

5.    Tie up with other professional bodies related to Chemistry to further this cause through communication campaigns

Launched during the IYC 2011, this platform would be a lifelong celebration of Chemistry!
