Luis Oro, President of the European Association on Chemical and Molecular Sciences; Rafael Rodrigo, President of Spanish Scientific Research Council; Reyes Jiménez, President of the Spanish Conference of Chemistry Deans; Nazario Martín, President of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry; and Carlos Negro, President of the Chemistry and Society Forum and the Spanish Chemists Association, are also joining the celebration.

The Official IYC Opening, held at the CSIC premises in Madrid, is also framework for the presentation, by the Spanish Post Office and Telegraph President Mr. Alberto Lafuente, of the Spanish 2011 IYC Commemorative Stamp, also commemorating the centennial of the Nobel Chemistry Prize to Marie Skolodowska Curie; and the presentation of Chemistry and Society Forum’ Gold Medal for the 2001-2010 Decade in Chemistry Research and Innovation to Avelino Corma, founder and director for 20 years of the Institute for Chemical Technology in Valencia (Spain).
