Acid Rain Effects

Junior high school students will perform some experiments in order to understand the effects of acid rain over construction materials

The activity consists of three parts:

  • Identification of solutions and substances by acid, basic or neutral. For this, they will use acid-base indicators and home-made indicators from tea and red cabbage.
  • Measurement of pH of HCl and NaOH with pH paper.
  • Evaluation of the effect of nitric and sulphuric acids over construction materials.

It will take place on June and July with 2nd year courses (14 years old) of ORT Technical School, Argentina.
