I have written the 1st text book of Chemistry in Maithili Language for popularising Chemistry among the Maithili knowing people as IYC 2011 celebrations in the uniquest of ways.
Literacy rate of this part of Bihar, India is very poor. The language widely known in this region is Maithili which is also a part of 8th schedule of Indian Constitution. Thus, I have written the first text book of Chemistry in this Mother tongue of mine. Students here do not opt for Science in higher educationdue to unavailability of books in their own language as they are unable to grasp the subject in foreign language. Gradually, they are dejected from pursuing Chemistry in higher studies. So,On the ocassion of IYC, I have decided to take pains to give them books in their own language. And, I am observing that people are getting interested while reading the book. Hope this effort of mine will be a milestone in the field of Chemistry education in backward area at present which was centre of education in past.
