With a global population of more than 7 billion, we face an urgent need for a renewable-based energy economy. Dr. Patricia DeMarco, Director of the Rachel Carson Institute in the School of Sustainability and the Environment at Chatham University, will speak.

Once a month, Café Sci is THE place in Pittsburgh where anyone can get together to discuss today's science issues with experts! 

 This month, Dr. Patricia DeMarco, Director of the Rachel Carson Institute in the School of Sustainability and the Environment at Chatham University, will speak about the risks of ignoring the need for renewable energy.  Now that the world has reached a population of more than seven billion, we face an urgent need for a transition from a fossil-based to a renewable-based energy economy.  Discover Pittsburgh’s crucial role in this global challenge, as many sustainable energy battles are taking place in our own backyard.

 Admission is free; doors open at 6 pm and the program will run from 7-9 pm. Assorted sandwiches, salads, and snacks will be available for purchase until 8:30 pm.
