Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science
Thermodynamics is the cornerstone for many scientific and engineering disciplines including physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, petroleum engineering and materials science. It provides the basis for the design and optimization of new sustainable industrial processes and the development of advanced materials and products. The combination of experiments, theory and simulation allows scientists and engineers to study complex systems from the molecular all the way to macroscopic level. This conference is overseen by the Statistical Mechanics and Thermodynamics Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
The Thermodynamics 2013 conference is the 23rd meeting in a series of thermodynamics conferences founded in the 1960s by John Rowlinson and Max McGlashan. It aims to bring together researchers from academia and industry from all over the world. The format of the conference is based on invited lectures, oral presentations, short presentations and posters. A number of awards will be given to recognized researchers and young scientists. For a flavour of what these conferences are like, please go to www.thermodynamics2011.org which gives all the details for the 2011 meeting.
Thanks to generous subvention funding from the Manchester City Council, the conference dinner will be held in the Town Hall on Thursday, 5 September, 2013. Furthermore, earlier that day, this funding will allow us to hold a public lecture/debate, in the Town Hall, on greenhouse gases. More details on this event will follow.
Registration will take place on Tuesday 3rd September 2013 and our current plans are that the conference will start around 3.0 pm that afternoon. It will conclude at lunch-time on Friday 6th September.
We will be populating this website with more information over the coming months.
