The National Metrology Institute is responsible of the National Standards, established the traceability to the System International Units and disseminate their accuracy by offer metrological services to the National Industry in order to improve the international exchange of goods and services.

In the field of chemistry, this activity is done by the standard reference materials, which have certified by using chemical measurements, that is the relation with analytical chemistry. There are trhee main specialties focussed on chemistry of materials: Organic, Ceramic and Metallic. The CENAM interest is disseminate activities of metrology in chemistry at Mexico.
