About:
The Millennium lecture series was founded with the aim of promoting science and bridging the gap between academia and the general public. The lecture series is a free event, and is proud to be working alongside a number of local schools, giving speakers a unique opportunity to inspire and connect with the next generation of young scientists. The lecture series will bring together some of the leading names in a range of scientific disciplines and comprise of approx. 15 talks running from Oct 2010 to Mar 2011.
To date we have a number of confirmed speakers:
Mark Maslin - Human evolution
Steve Martin - Renewable energy and bio fuels
David Nutt - psychiatrist and neuropsychopharmacologist
Alex Murphy - nuclear and particle astrophysicist
James Maclaine - Zoology
We are continuing to send out invitaions for further speakers and gather sponsorship from a number of bodies. We are also looking into holding a one off mini symposium for schools on green technology in 2011.
